“I was actively involved as an external stakeholder in the VOLANTE Project on Future Land Resource Management in Europe, and participated in several workshops organised and facilitated by Prospex.
It was clear from the outset of the project that there would be a significant challenge in bringing together both scientific evidence and subjective expert opinion on land use pressures, trends and futures in Europe. The people at Prospex however were very skilled in using a range of group participatory exercises to draw out ideas and viewpoints, before distilling these into coherent outputs towards the end of the process. It was a tough job but was well executed by Prospex.
One of the joys of working on the VOLANTE project was the genuine thought-provoking nature of the exchanges. I found the time spent with different stakeholders stimulating and ultimately extremely useful in helping me see the world through the eyes of others. This has helped my work as the CEO of an environmental charity, the Scottish Wildlife Trust.
In all the sessions organised by Proxpex it was very clear the purpose was to maximise participation from stakeholders to ensure their key ideas, facts, insights and solutions could be incited and collected. Prospex’ approach enabled the flow of knowledge from participants in a creative but also an efficient way. I’d recommend Prospex’ approach for similar projects to VOLANTE which demand a range of participatory techniques to develop the knowledge needed to answer complex research question(s).”
